
Rockford Tops Mallards In Five, Move On To Face Fort Wayne

For the third straight postseason, the Rockford IceHogs and Fort Wayne Komets will match-up. Rockford disposed the Quad City Mallards in Round One, knocking out the archrivals in five games and will now face-off against the Komets in the Colonial Cup Semifinals beginning on Friday in Fort Wayne.
Wednesday, April 18: Rockford IceHogs 1 at Quad City Mallards 3 (Game Three)
Friday, April 20: Rockford IceHogs 3 at Quad City Mallards 1 (Game Four)
Sunday, April 22: Quad City Mallards 4 vs. Rockford IceHogs 8 (Game Five)
Transactions:
-Rockford winger Bruce Watson was placed on the 7-Day Injured Reserve on Thursday, April 19.
Bacon Bits:
Rockford won its First Round Colonial Cup Playoff series for the third straight season.
The IceHogs record in the First Round in that time is 12-4.
The IceHogs set a postseason single-game record with 8 goals on Sunday against the Mallards.
Winger Nicolas Corbeil has a goal in three straight games.
Corbeil became the first Hogs player to net two game-winning goals in a single playoff series.
Hogs center Preston Mizzi is tied for the most points in the postseason (with Mike Kinnie from Flint), accumulating 4g-6a-10pts. Mizzi's six assists is also tied for most in the playoffs.
Mizzi had three three-point games against the Mallards in Round One.
Chaz Johnson and Nathan Lutz lead the UHL with a plus/minus rating of +7.
Rockford converted on just two of its 34 power-play opportunities against the Mallards in the Opening Round.
The Hogs are averaging a UHL best 4.20 goals per game in the playoffs and are averaging 39.80 shots on goal per game, also tops in the "U".
Hot Hog Week 2 Colonial Cup Playoffs:
Rockford winger Nicolas Corbeil came up huge for the IceHogs in the second week of the Colonial Cup Playoffs. Corbeil registered a goal in all three of the IceHogs contests against the Quad City Mallards and his marker on Sunday proved to be the game winner in the club's series clinching win. Overall, Corbeil had 4g-2a-6pts with a plus/minus rating of +4.

Friday, April 27 at Fort Wayne Komets (Game One): The game is scheduled for 7 p.m. For the third straight season the IceHogs and Komets meet in the Colonial Cup Playoffs. The best-of-seven semifinal series gets underway at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind.
Sunday, April 29 at Fort Wayne Komets (Game Two): Game time is 5 p.m. The Hogs and Komets drop the puck for Game Two of the Western Conference Semifinals. One team will look to take a commanding 2-0 series lead, while the other will try to tie up the best-of-seven series before it shifts to Rockford for Game Three.

Bud Light HogTalk returns this week, Playoff style, at Shooter's North. The show is hosted by Jim Stone and Double T and this week's show will feature IceHogs rookie skaters Chaz Johnson and Frederic Cloutier. The show runs from 7-8 p.m. and also features IceHogs Head Coach Steve Martinson. Come on out and talk IceHogs hockey and take advantage of some Bud Light specials at Shooter's North.

Once again this season, ESPN Radio "The Jock" 1380 AM will broadcast 20 Hogs games during the regular season. Check your local listings for game times and dates.
