
Komets travel to Elmira after whitewashing Hogs

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets split a home double-header weekend earning 2 points for the week and improved to 13-5-0 on the season and continue to lead the Western Division with 26 points, a 6-point spread over second-place Rockford.
Friday night the Quad City Mallards upset the Komets 4-3 on coliseum ice. Bruce Richardson (C) notched a pair while J.C. Ruid (C) added a marker. Kevin St. Pierre suffered the loss stopping 37 of 41 Mallard shots.
Saturday the Komets turned back the visiting Rockford IceHogs 3-0 and snapped a 2-game home winless streak. St. Pierre registered his 32nd career shutout and second of the season in his 7th straight start. It also was a Komet franchise record 20th shutout for St. Pierre and a UHL record 23rd shutout.
This week the Komets hit the road to Elmira for a 2-game set this Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30. It will be the 2nd and 3rd meetings of 5 this season between the Komets and Jackals. The Komets upended the Jackals 8-1 in the last meeting Nov. 17 at Fort Wayne. The games will be broadcast on Fort Wayne radio, WOWO AM 1190, and at www.komets.com Comcast KometCast with Bob Chase calling the play-by-play.
The Komets next home game is slated for Friday, Dec. 15. The Kalamazoo Wings make their first appearance of the season in Fort Wayne at 8pm.

Komet leaders.....Mario Larocque (D) 24 points, +9, 108 pim.....J.C. Ruid (C) 13 goals, 4 game winning goals.....Guy Dupuis (D) 18 assists, 12 power play assists.....Larocque leads UHL defensemen with 9 goals and 6 power play goals. The Komets also lead the UHL in least goals against with 42 for an average of 2.33 goals-against per game after 18 games.
Special K's.....the Komets lead the UHL with 31 power play goals (tied with Muskegon) in 139 chances after 18 games for a league-best 22.3% rating.
Streaking Komets......Dan Goneau (LW), 5-game point streak (1g, 5a, 6pts).....Bruce Richardson (C) 3-game point streak (4g, 1a, 5pts).
Milestones.....Bruce Richardson (C) registered his 100th career goal with his second goal of the game in Friday night's home match against Quad City.
Tuzzolino added to Komet roster.....defenseman Nick Tuzzolino was added to the Komet roster prior to Saturday night's home game against the Rockford IceHogs. Tuzzolino made his first appearance with the Komets in the match recording a +1. Tuzzolino, 20, hails from Buffalo, New York and is the brother of Flint General center Tony Tuzzolino. The rookie defenseman was selected by the New York Islanders in round 7 of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and appeared in 4 games with Sudbury of the Ontario Hockey League this season before signing with the Komets.
