
Rockford hits quarter mark of regular season

The first 19 games have come and gone and the Rockford IceHogs sit at 9-8-2 at the one-quarter mark. After a win Friday, the Hogs dropped an intense goaltending duel Saturday in Fort Wayne and a tight 4-3 contest in Flint on Sunday. Rockford will play three more contests during Week 9, including a home tilt against the Chicago Hounds at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday.

-Defenseman Corey Hessler was signed and added to the roster on Friday, Dec. 1.
Bacon Bits:
The IceHogs were shutout for the first time this season on Saturday in Fort Wayne.
The game also marked the first time this season in which the Hogs didn't score at least two goals in a game.
The line combination of Kevin Ulanski (4g-9a), Nicolas Corbeil (5g-8a) and Kaleb Betts (7g-5a) lead the IceHogs in scoring on the road, combining for 16g-22a-38pts in 10 road games.
Betts ranks fourth among all UHL rookies in scoring with 17 points.
Rockford hit the one-quarter mark of the 2006-07 regular season after Sunday's game and has a record of 9-8-2.
Rockford's penalty kill held the opposition to 2-for-38 (5.2%) on the power play over the weekend.
The Hogs have been outscored 24-18 in the third period this season, the only period of the three in which the opponent has more goals.
Six of the IceHogs next 14 games, beginning on Wednesday, are against the Bloomington PrairieThunder.
Rockford leads the UHL in major penalties with 29.
Winger Robin Big Snake leads the UHL in majors with nine.
Defenseman Matt Gens played in his 100th career pro game on Friday in Flint.
Center Preston Mizzi tied Olivier Proulx for fourth on the IceHogs all-time goal scoring list with 45 goals
Hot Hog Week 8:
Center Kevin UIanski continues his breakout sophomore sesaon as he accumulated four more points for the IceHogs. Ulanski chipped in three assists on Friday night against Flint, then a goal against the Generals on Sunday.
Upcoming Games:
Wednesday, Dec. 6 at Bloomington PrairieThunder: Game time is 7:05 p.m. The Hogs and Thunder renew acquaintances at the U.S. Cellular Colesium. The game is the first of six between the two clubs in the next 30 days.
Friday, Dec. 8 at Port Huron Flags. The game starts at 6 p.m. Rockford's five-game road swing comes to an end on Friday when they make their final visit of the season to Port Huron to take on the Flags.
Saturday, Dec. 9 vs. Chicago Hounds. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. The Hogs and Hounds hook up once again at the Rockford MetroCentre. The first 1,000 fans to the game will receive an IceHogs hockey puck from Bryden Motors. The game also marks the Hogs Annual Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently used stuffed bear to the game and after the IceHogs score its first goal, fans can toss the bears onto the ice. The Teddy Bears will then be collected and distributed to local hospitals and the Mountain of Toys.

Once again this season, ESPN"ËRadio "The Jock" 1380 AM will broadcast 20 Hogs games during the regular season. Check your local listings for game times and dates. Also, fans with Insight Cable television can tune in to Channel 57 for all the IceHogs hockey action this season. The broadcast begins with the Pregame Show 30 minutes before the puck drops.
