
Askey wins second weekly award

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the United Hockey League and 2005-06 Central Division, Tarry Cup and Colonial Cup champions, announce that goaltender Tom Askey has been selected as the UHL's Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week for the period ending December 3rd.
In two games last week, Askey was brilliant earning victories over both Chicago and Muskegon. On Wednesday, the native of Tonawanda, New York stopped 29 shots to propel the K-Wings into second place in the Eastern Conference. The netminder followed up Wednesday's stellar play by turning aside 28 of 30 shots on Saturday to knock off the league's top team, the Fury. For the week, Askey went 2-0-0 with a goals against average of 1.50 and a save percentage of .950.
The Southern Sports Supply Goaltender of the Week Award is the second earned by Askey and the thirteenth collected by a K-Wings goaltender in the team's UHL history.
Kalamazoo is home two times this week, starting Friday (12/8) night at 7:30 p.m. versus the Bloomington PrairieThunder. Kalamazoo will also be home this Saturday (12/9) for a 7:30 p.m. face-off against the Flint Generals. Saturday's game is "Cup Craze", as the Stanley Cup, Turner Cup, Colonial Cup and Tarry Cup will be displayed in the Cube Viewing Area starting at 1 p.m. Fans who have tickets to the K-Wings-Generals game can view the cups for FREE, while individuals coming only to see the cups will have to pay an admission fee of $10.
Tickets for this weekend's contest and all K-Wing home games are available at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office during their regular business hours of Monday-Friday 10 a.m.-6 p.m. or Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Fans can purchase their tickets by calling the (269) 345-5101 or logging onto www.ticketmaster.com.
