CLEVELAND - In advance of the 2016 Toyota AHL All-Star Classic, to be held January 31 - February 1, 2016 at the Onondaga County War Memorial Arena in Syracuse, NY, Cleveland's Lake Erie Monsters announced Thursday that Monsters second-leading scorer Kerby Rychel was selected to represent the AHL's Central Division as a 2016 AHL All-Star.

A second-year left wing, Rychel, 21, was tabbed by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft (19th overall) and has five goals, 20 points, 45 penalty minutes and a +2 rating to his credit for Lake Erie this season. In 11 NHL appearances for Columbus this year, Rychel contributed three points, 11 penalty minutes and a +3 rating.

A 6'1", 205 lb. native of Torrance, CA, Rychel posted six assists, 13 penalty minutes and a +6 rating in 16 career NHL appearances for the Blue Jackets spanning parts of the past two seasons and in 72 career AHL games played for the Monsters and Springfield Falcons from 2014 to 2016, Rychel accumulated 17 goals, 53 points, 88 penalty minutes and a +9 rating.

Prior to his professional career, Rychel logged 122 goals, 271 points, 264 penalty minutes and a +27 rating in 256 career OHL appearances for the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors, Windsor Spitfires and Guelph Storm spanning parts of four seasons from 2010 to 2014. Rychel helped Windsor claim the 2013-14 OHL Championship and was named to the 2013 CHL Memorial Cup All-Star Team.

The 2016 Toyota AHL All-Star Classic will include the AHL All-Star Skills Competition at 8:00 pm on Sunday, January 31st, followed by the AHL All-Star Challenge at 7:00 pm on Monday, February 1st. This year's All-Star Challenge will feature an innovative new game format in which, in lieu of a traditional 60-minute game, the league's All-Stars will be divided into four teams, one representing each of the AHL's divisions (Atlantic, North, Central and Pacific). The four teams will then compete in a round-robin tournament consisting of six nine-minute games with the first half of each game contested at four-on-four and the second-half played at three-on-three. The two teams with the best records at the conclusion of the round-robin will subsequently go head-to-head in a six-minute, three-on-three championship game.

TIME CHANGE FOR JANUARY 23rd GAME: The Monsters also announced Thursday that the game time for the team's home game vs. the Milwaukee Admirals at The Q on Saturday, January 23rd has been adjusted to a 1:00 pm start time. The original game time of 1:30 pm was adjusted due to preparations for the Cavs vs. Bulls national television game later that evening at The Q.

ROAD GAME SATURDAY: Next up for the Monsters, it's a Saturday road clash vs. the Grand Rapids Griffins with full coverage from Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, MI underway at 7:00 pm on 99X and the Monsters Hockey Network.
