Grand Rapids Griffins News Release

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Grand Rapids Griffins and Flagstar Bank on Thursday unveiled a new floor hockey program to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Grand Rapids and the Griffins Youth Foundation. The official launch of Flagstar Floor Hockey was held at the Boys & Girls Club Steil location (235 Straight Ave NW, Grand Rapids, MI, 49504).

"The Griffins are so thankful for Flagstar Bank and their commitment to community," said Bob Kaser, Griffins vice president of community relations and broadcasting. "The new floor hockey program provides kids at Boys & Girls Clubs and our Griffins Youth Foundation with another great activity, all while helping grow the game of hockey."

A year-round program, Flagstar Floor Hockey will be run by the Boys & Girls Clubs of Grand Rapids during the winter months at three locations (Steil, Paul I Phillips, and Seidman clubs) and by the Griffins Youth Foundation throughout the summer months at Griff's Ice House.

"We were so pleased with our sponsorship with the Griffins over the past two years that we wanted to expand our relationship into the community," said Laura Borden-Priest, West Michigan market manager for Flagstar. "The Griffins Youth Foundation and the Boys & Girls Clubs were the perfect fit. It's one more way to show our commitment to the community."

The Griffins take great pride in connecting with the West Michigan community and have successfully developed many enriching programs and positive relationships alongside local charitable organizations. Longtime goaltender Tom McCollum and Flagstar Bank team up annually to donate four season tickets to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Grand Rapids, as the Griffins and the Boys & Girls Clubs have established a lasting bond.

Established in 1995, the Griffins Youth Foundation promotes academic excellence, community involvement and healthy lifestyles among the youth of West Michigan, enhancing their lives through hockey and ice-related sports.
