Rapid City Rush News Release

(Hidalgo, TX) - One night after having their respective point streaks snapped, Ryan Menei and Konrad Reeder were right back at it for the Rapid City Rush. The duo accounted for both goals in a 2-1 overtime victory against the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees on Saturday night. Reeder's tally came 1:31 into the extra period, leading the Rush to their eighth straight victory, tying the longest winning streak of the season in the Central Hockey League. In all, the Rush have won nine of their last ten games. Danny Battochio continued his torrid pace, stopping 31 shots for his sixth straight win in the last eight days, and league-leading 20th of the season.

It took until the second period, but Ryan Menei broke a scoreless tie at the 5:08 mark, collecting his fifth shorthanded goal of the season for the Rush. Defenseman Dave Grimson slid a stretch-pass to Menei who broke in alone, snapping a shot under the blocker of Juliano Pagliero for his team-leading 29th goal of the season.

In the final frame, the Killer Bees answered back with less than six minutes remaining, potting a powerplay goal to force overtime. Dan Gendur used a Rush defenseman as a screen and snapped home a wrist shot from the top of the right circle that found the top-left corner.

It was then time for Reeder's heroics, collecting a pass from Menei and then jamming home a puck from the top of the crease for his 9th goal of the year and the game-winner.

The Rush complete the season-long road trip a perfect 8-0, the longest road win streak in team history. The Rush finally head home for a pair of contests against the Arizona Sundogs on Friday, February 11th and Saturday, February 12th at 7:05pm. Tickets are still available for both games.
