FOREIGN ICE AFFAIRS: Though dropping their lone game of their unexpected abbreviated week on the road Thursday night at Bossier-Shreveport, 5-1, the IceMen have maintained a commendable, respect-able road record at this hour of the season. Evansville is 6(4-2-0) in the last half-dozen dates abroad and 12(5-5-2) in the last dozen dates. For the season abroad; 24(8-13-3); in the second half, the record is 6(4-2-0).
CONFERENCE CALL: Evansville's record against its own Turner Conference is a significantly improving 33(12-16-5). However, outside the conference, they are languishing, having lost 7-in a row after launching the current campaign with 3-wins in their first 3-games against the Berry Conference delegation nation. For the season, the record is 10(3-7-0).
JANUARY JAM: Left wing Brian Bicek 11(8-6-14) and center Damian Surma 11(8-3-11) were the IceMen top 2-point meisters for the month of January. Their 8-strikes apiece topped the IceMen goal-cannonading for the month as well. Meanwhile, center Jeff Nelson 9(4-5-9) ranked #3 and his +4 rating ranked tops on the club for the opening month of the new calendar year.
SPECIAL TEAMS TUNE-UP: When Damian Surma scored his club-best 22nd goal of the season Thursday night and his 5th on the power play this season, it halted an IceMen 0-17 drought. They are 2 for the last 24 with the extra man band. The penalty-kill could take a chill-pill at this juncture of the season. The opposition is 4 for the last 5 with the man advantage spanning the past 2-games.
FEW FUN FAST FACTS FROM "FIC": When they bowed at Bossier-Shreveport Thursday night, 5-1, it marked the 13th time in the first 43-games that the IceMen have been limited to a mere 1-GF in a single game.
