February 5, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Allen Americans News Release

ALLEN, Texas- In front of a raucous crowd at the NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, Texas

In the first period which was fast-paced and hard hitting, the Americans withstood a strong opening 20 minutes from the home club, and got on the board first. Dave Nimmo took a feed from David Strathman in the slot, and fired a slick wrister over the glove hand of Brahmas Goaltender Wayne Savage, putting the Americans up 1-0 5:52 into the period. Americans Goaltender Chris Whitley came away with 10 saves in the first to keep the Brahmas at bay.

The second period saw Allen jump ahead 2-0 when Scott Langdon banged home a rebound for his third tally of the season at 14:56. Playing a solid period, the Americans were able to narrow the Brahmas shot advantage to 20-18.

The final stanza would see the Brahmas get on the board just over 10 minutes in when Chad Woolard fired a shot over the glove of Chris Whitley from just inside the faceoff circle on his off wing. With the score still 2-1, Dave Bonk was called for a controversial penalty with less than two minutes remaining, which gave Texas one last chance to tie the game. Whitley stood tall once again during the Brahmas man advantage however, securing the hard fought road victory for Allen.

With the victory, the Americans extend their lead in the Berry Conference, and move to 31-8-1 for the season.

The Americans will return home to the Allen Event Center Tuesday, February 8th to take on the Tulsa Oilers. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 PM at the Allen Event Center. The game can be heard on www.975klak.com, and seen on CHL-TV.
