Texas Loses Close One To Allen 2-1
February 5, 2011 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (February 5)- It was a tight game in North Richland Hills between the cross town rivals, but it was the Allen Americans who came up the victor defeating the Texas Brahmas 2-1.
The Brahmas found themselves in a shorthanded situation against the league's top powerplay unit when Alex Curran was called for tripping at the 3:48 mark. Just as the powerplay expired, American's David Nimmo beat Wayne Savage for his ninth goal of the season. The Americans netted their second of the night from Scott Langdon in the middle frame.
Special teams played a factor in the third when Texas' Chad Woollard crossed the blueline and rifled his signature slapshot past Chris Whitley for a powerplay tally and a 2-1 score. With under two minutes remaining in regulation the American's were called for a penalty giving Texas the man advantage; and with 1:12 remaining Savage was pulled for the extra attacker, but the Allen defense held strong for the win.
The Brahmas next game is Friday, February 11 when they make the trek north to face the Tulsa Oilers for a 7:35 pm start. The Brahmas return home on Saturday when the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees come to the NYTEX Sports Centre for a 7:30 pm faceoff.
