
Rush Fall to Bucks 5-2

(Laredo, TX) - Friday night, the Rapid City Rush fell to the Laredo Bucks by a 5-2 score. Bucks veteran forward Jeff Bes collected his 1,000th career point with an assist in the second period. The two teams faceoff again tomorrow night at 6:30pm MST.
The Rush found themselves in a hole early as the Bucks found the back of the net twice, including a goal just 1:20 into the contest. Scoring the game's first goal was Chris Korchinski who followed his own shot for a rebound that was backhanded past the blocker of Rush goaltender Jimmy Spratt. The Bucks then converted on their first powerplay of the game at the 9:47 mark on a centering attempt than deflected off of a skate and in that was credited to Addison DeBoer.
Laredo would keep the pressure coming in the second period, burying a pair of goals to double the lead. Neil Trimm collected the second powerplay goal of the night for the Bucks on a rebound from the right side of the crease. Daniel Koger would then get his league-leading eighth goal of the season at 10:38 of the period to extend the lead to 4-0. Korchinski assisted on the play as well as nineteen-year veteran Jeff Bes who collected his 1,000th career point.
The Rush would stop the bleeding in the third period while on the powerplay. Scott Kalinchuk fired a shot that was deflected by Derek LeBlanc past Bucks goaltender Torrie Jung to make it a 4-1 game 5:02 into the 3rd. However the Bucks would regain the four-goal lead with another powerplay goal from DeBoer, this one coming at the 13:53 mark of the final stanza. Finally, with three seconds left in the game, Colt King slammed home his third goal of the season to make it a 5-2 final.
The Rush ended the night 2-for-5 on the powerplay while the Bucks finished an impressive 3-for-4 on the man-advantage. Laredo's Torrie Jung made 36 saves to collect his 3rd win of the season for the Bucks while Jimmy Spratt was dealt his second loss.
The two teams wrap up the weekend set with a contest tomorrow at 6:30pm MST. The game can be heard on 100.3 the FOX or online at foxradio.com.
