November 6, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Mississippi RiverKings News Release
SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The Mississippi RiverKings (3-4-0) look to put together their first winning streak of the season tonight, when they host the Tulsa Oilers (2-6-1) in a 7:05 PM meeting at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven. Mississippi is coming off a 4-3 victory over the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs last night at the DCC, while the Oilers will come to Southaven off a 4-2 loss at Missouri last night.
Tickets remain available for RiverKings hockey through the DeSoto Civic Center box office and through Ticketmaster. Flex and group plans are also available. Fans are reminded the last day to order season tickets for this season is tomorrow, while orders are already being taken for next year's season tickets.
Tonight's game will be broadcast on WPGF-FM 87.7 "The Pig," with RiverKings Media Coordinator Bob Bakken providing the play-by-play. Air-time for the broadcast this evening will be 6:50 PM. Tonight's contest will also be audio streamed on www.radiopig.com and will also be covered by the CHL-TV webcasting service. Click the "Watch Live" link on the RiverKings' web site home page to be directed to the CHL-TV service.
This evening will mark the first meeting of the season between the long-time rivals who are two of the three remaining franchises from the "new" Central Hockey League, which started in 1992. The RiverKings (Memphis/Mississippi) have a 75-57-10 all-time mark against Tulsa, but only won four of eleven games against the Oilers last year (4-5-2).
Tonight's contest is the third of a four-game homestand for the RiverKings, who will host Evansville Tuesday night before taking their first extended road trip of the season to Rapid City and Colorado. Mississippi plays at Rapid City Friday, November 12th, then in Colorado Saturday, November 13th, and will return to Rapid City for a Tuesday, November 16th contest before returning home.
