Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
HIDALGO, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (5-2-2) defeated the Odessa Jackalopes (2-6-1) Saturday night by a score of 4-1. Greg Holt scored the game winning goal for the Bees in the second period. It was his first professional goal in his fifth game as a Killer Bee. Julian Pagliero was strong in between the pipes for the Bees making 36 saves on the 37 shots he faced.
The Killer Bees scored the first goal of the game with a power-play strike by Tomas Klempa with assists to Sean Muncy and Kyle Radke. Radke fed to Muncy who took a shot on net from the top of the circles. Odessa goalie Joel Martin got the puck with his left pad but the rebound landed right on the stick of Klempa who buried the puck.
Odessa answered the Killer Bees strike with a power-play goal of their own when Todd Robinson scored with assists to Sebastien Thinel and Michael Schutte at 8:27.
In the second period the Bees retook the lead when Greg Holt scored his first professional goal. Holt took a pass from Kyle Radke and from the inside of the circles ripped a shot that found twine on Martin's glove side. It was the second assist of the game for Kyle Radke.
The game would remain 2-1 until there was less than two minutes remaining in the game. At the 18:32 mark, and Odessa focusing on offense, Aaron Lewicki was able to knock down a breakout pass and feed it to Aaron Lee who was all alone in front. Lee walked in on Martin and ripped it high glove side.
The Bees would ice the game with an empty net goal scored by Aaron Lewicki.
The Bees hit the road with a three game road trip next weekend. The Bees will face Bossier-Shreveport on Friday night at the CenturyTel Center and travel to North Richland Hills to face the Brahmas on Friday night. The Bees will remain on the road traveling to Odessa on Tuesday night.
The Killer Bees return to State Farm Arena on November 19th as they host Bossier-Shreveport. Tickets are available on killerbeehockey.com and by calling (956) 845-PUCK (7825).
