
Bucks' Win Streak Snapped By Rush

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Rapid City Rush 4-1 Saturday night at Laredo Energy Arena. The Bucks had their two-game winning streak snapped as they fall to 4-3-1 (nine points) on the season.
Ryan Menei scored two goals while Les Reaney picked up three points (1-2=3) to lead the Rush to their first-ever win against the Bucks. Danny Battochio set aside 26 of 27 shots to help the Rush improve to 4-4 (eight points).
The Bucks scored first for the third straight game to take a 1-0 after 20 minutes of play.
Neil Trimm extended his point streak to eight games when he scored from the right circle on an odd man rush with just 36 seconds left in the first period. The strike was Trimm's fifth of the season.
Laredo falls to 3-1 when scoring first this season.
The Bucks (2-1-1 at home) outshot the Rush 12-5 in the first period.
Rapid City's offense came to life in the second period as they scored three goals to take a 3-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.
The Rush tied the game at the 6:56 mark of the second when Menei jammed in a shot from the middle of the slot to pick up his fourth goal of the season.
Rapid City took a 2-1 lead with 5:05 left in the second period when Josh Beaulieu knocked in a wrist shot from the circle. The strike was Beaulieu's first goal of the campaign.
Menei gave the Rush a 3-1 lead just 17 seconds later when streaked down the left side and hammered in a slap shot from the left circle to notch his second tally of the contest and fifth of the season.
The Rush outshot the Bucks 9-6 in the second period.
Reaney put the Rush up 4-1 with a tally at the 8:28 mark of the third period.
Laredo outshot Rapid City 9-5 in the third period and 27-19 for the game.
Pier Pelletier fell to 1-3-1 in the Bucks net as he stopped 15 of 19 shots he faced.
Prior to Saturday's game the Bucks held a ceremony presenting Jeff Bes with a plaque and the game puck from his 1,000th career point as well as showed a video tribute on the jumbo tron. Ed's Trophies donated the plaque and a puck display case to Bes. Bes picked up the milestone point with an assist in the second period of Laredo's 5-2 win Friday night.
