
RubberDucks Shut Out Curve on Wednesday Night

CURVE, Pa. - Aaron Shortridge tossed five innings for Altoona for the third time this season, but he allowed four unearned runs in the process as Altoona was shutout by the RubberDucks, 4-0, at PNG Field on Wednesday night.
Akron scored one run in the first inning on an RBI-single from Micah Pries, after Lolo Sanchez allowed Bryan Lavastida to advance first to third on a fielding error in the at-bat prior. Then, Akron scored three runs in the third on one hit and two errors for Altoona. Andres Alvarez and Liover Peguero each committed errors in the frame, as Lavastida scored on a fielding error by Peguero with two outs and Raynel Delgado brought two more home with a triple in the next at-bat.
Altoona left seven runners on base in the contest, recording six hits. Peguero went 2-for-4 in the loss with a single and a double. Tanner Bibee tossed six shutout frames before Brett Daniels and Mason Hickman combined for the final three innings. It was the fifth time this season Altoona was shutout.
Nick Dombkowski tossed three scoreless relief innings for Altoona, striking out one batter. Colin Selby followed with a scoreless ninth inning. Endy Rodriguez threw out a runner stealing and picked off a runner at first base in the loss for Altoona. Altoona's defense turned three double plays on the night.
Altoona continues a six-game series with the Akron RubberDucks, Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians, on Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. RHP Thomas Ponticelli gets the start for Akron, with Altoona yet to announce a starter.
