Brilliant Bibee Leads Akron to 4-0 Shutout Victory over Altoona
August 31, 2022 - Eastern League (EL)
Akron RubberDucks News Release
Tanner Bibee fans five over six scoreless innings to lead the Akron RubberDucks to a 4-0 victory over the Altoona Curve on Wednesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
Turning Point
With the RubberDucks up 4-0, Altoona looked to try and get back into the game. A one-out single by Aaron Shackelford and a two-out double by Connor Scott put runners at second and third for Andres Alvarez, who has been a thorn in Akron's side all season. Tanner Bibee got Alvarez to chase the sixth pitch of the at-bat for an inning-ending strikeout to escape the jam.
Mound Presence
Bibee was strong in his start for Akron allowing multiple baserunners twice in his six scoreless innings of work while punching out five. Brett Daniels followed with a scoreless inning. Mason Hickman tossed two scoreless innings while striking out two.
Duck Tales
Akron scored in the first inning for the second straight day. Micah Pries singled home Bryan Lavastida to make it 1-0 RubberDucks. In the third inning, Akron stretched its lead when a fielding error allowed Lavastida to score and make it 2-0 Ducks. Akron continued to add on in the third when Raynel Delgado tripled home Angel Martinez and Daniel Schneemann to make it 4-0 Ducks.
Notebook
Noel extended his hitting streak to 10 games and his on-base streak to 18 games...Bibee in four starts against the Curve has tossed 21 innings while allowing four runs and striking out 23...Game Time: 2:22...Attendance: 4,117.
