Lead Changes Hand Five Times as Reading Falls 7-5 to Hartford

The Reading Fightin Phils exchanged leads with the Hartford Yard Goats five times in a 7-5 loss. Jhailyn Ortiz launched his 17th homer of the season and Carlos De La Cruz smacked one out of the park as well. The Fightins outhit the Yard Goats 13-8.

The R-Phils got on the board first in the first frame. A two-out RBI single by Jhailyn Ortiz brought in Wendell Rijo who doubled to reach.

Hartford got on top in the second scoring two runs on three hits. They led 3-2.

Ortiz smoked a two-run shot to centerfield to give Reading a 4-2 lead in the third.

The Fightins tacked on one as Carlos De La Cruz belted a double to bring home Johan Rojas.

In the bottom of the third, Willie MacIver singled home Hunter Stovall to put Hartford within one.

The Goats took the lead in the fourth with Brenton Doyle's two-run shot. Hartford led 5-4.

De La Cruz roped a homer down the right field line to tie things up at five a piece in the top of the seventh.

Grant Lavigne homered into the second deck in right center for a 6-5 lead. It is the second day the Yard Goats have hit a game winning homer.

The Goats added another in an eventful bottom of the eighth. A walk, wild pitch, dropped third strike, and missed catch error allowed an unearned run to score. Hartford took a 7-5 win.

Ethan Lindow got the start throwing five innings. He allowed five runs on seven hits.

Tyler McKay pitched two innings. The only hit he let up was a solo shot for Hartford's lead. McKay struck out three.

Matt Seelinger took the bottom of the eighth. He allowed one unearned run but no hits.
