Royals Notes:
v The Royals went 2-1-0 in the three games played this past week. Reading's record is now 34-15-7=75, which places the Royals in first place in the North Division of the American Conference and translates into a .670 win percentage-which is the fifth best win percentage in the league.
v With the Royals' second win of the week, 4-2 over the Trenton Titans, Reading Clinched a spot in the 2006 Kelly Cup playoffs, marking the third consecutive year-in the organization's five year history-that the team has made it to the playoffs.
v In the Royals' last twenty games, the team has compiled a record of 11-4-5, picking up at least a point in 16 of those games.
v With the 4-2 win over the Greenville Grrrowl (who play in the South Division) at the Sovereign Center last Tuesday night, the Royals ran the team's record to 3-0-1 against teams from the South Division and 9-2-2 against teams outside the North Division. (Tuesday's game was the Royals' last game of the regular season against a team outside the North Division.)
v Royals' defenseman T.J. Kemp scored two goals-including the game winner-in last Tuesday's 4-2 win over Greenville, marking the third two-goal performance of the season for Kemp.
- Kemp's goals on Tuesday snapped a seven game scoring drought-and a six game pointless drought-heading into that game. (Coming into Tuesday's game Kemp had only scored 3 goals over a span of 27 games dating back to his last 2-goal performance on December 16.)
- Kemp's game winner last Tuesday marked his third game winning goal of the season.
- Kemp also assisted on both of Reading's goals in the 6-2 loss to Johnstown on Friday night, marking Kemp's ninth multi-point game of the season for the Royals.
- Kemp has scored twelve goals and added twenty-four assists (36 points) in 51 games with Reading this season, which places him in seventh place in scoring amongst defensemen in the ECHL.
v Eric Werner scored a goal in both Tuesday's 4-2 win over Greenville and Friday's 6-2 loss to Johnstown.
- Friday's goal for Werner's marked his fifth goal in the seven games up to and including that match-up with Johnstown.
- In Saturday's 4-2 win over Trenton, Werner assisted on two of Reading's four goals, including the game winner scored by Dany Roussin, marking Werner's sixth multi-point game of the season-and four of those have come in his last eight games with the Royals.
- Werner is currently riding a ten game point streak (5g -10a=15pts).
v With Eric Werner's goal at the 14:05 mark of the third period in the Royals' 6-2 loss to Johnstown on Friday, six of the team's last ten goals (over a course of four games up to and including Friday's match-up with the Chiefs) had been scored by defensemen-Werner, T.J. Kemp and Reagan Rome.
v Malcolm MacMillan scored the Royals' fourth goal (into an empty net) in Reading's 4-2 win over Greenville last Tuesday.
- MacMillan also scored Reading's fourth goal in the 4-2 win over Trenton on Saturday night.
- MacMillan has now scored ten goals in 46 games over the course of the season with Reading-and nine of his goals have been scored within his last twenty games (and six have been scored in his last ten games).
v The goaltender in all three games played this week for the Royals was Cody Rudkowsky, who has now played four consecutive games for Reading and nine of the team's last eleven, going 6-3-0 in those games.
- Over the course of the season with the Royals, Cody Rudkowsky has compiled a record of 18-5-3, with a 2.43 goals against average (fifth best in the league) and .921 save percentage.
- In eight decisions with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League, Rudkowsky has compiled a record of 5-2-1 with a 2.06 gaa and a .938 save percentage.
v The Royals' 6-2 loss to Johnstown at the Sovereign Center on Friday night snapped a four game home winning streak for the Royals-the second longest home winning streak of the season for the team. (To start the season, Reading won the team's first seven games at the Sovereign Center.)
- Reading is 7-2-2 in the team's last eleven home games dating back to January 21.
v Doug Christiansen scored the Royals' second goal in the 6-2 loss to Johnstown on Friday, snapping a personal four game goal-less drought.
- Christiansen also scored the Royals' second goal in the 4-2 win over the Trenton Titans on Saturday, marking his team-leading twenty-seventh goal of the season.
- Christiansen also picked up an assist in Saturday's win (on the game winner by Dany Roussin), marking Christiansen's fourteenth multi-point game of the year.
- Christiansen is the Royals' leading active scorer on the roster at this time with 27 goals and 24 assists (51 points) in 49 games-3 points behind Mike Kompon, who is currently with the Binghamton Senators of the AHL.
v In Friday's loss to Johnstown, the Royals allowed only one power play opportunity to the Chiefs, which is the fewest power plays against the Royals' have faced in a single game this season.
- Over the course of the week, the Royals did not allow a power play goal against in the three games played, killing all sixteen power plays for the opponents this week. (Reading has now killed 17 consecutive power plays against.)
- In the last eighteen games, the Royals have allowed 13 power play goals against in 123 chances for the opponents, an 89.4% kill ratio.
- Over the course of the season, Reading has given up 53 ppga in 362 chances for the opponents, an 85.4% kill ratio, which is ranked third in the ECHL.
v Grant Jacobsen scored the Royals' first goal-the first of the game-in Reading's 4-2 win over Trenton on Saturday night, marking his third "first-goal" of the season-and his second in the team's last four games.
- Jacobsen is currently playing at a +22 this season, which leads the Royals in that category and is second amongst rookies in the ECHL this season.
- Jacobsen has scored 13 goals and added 26 assists this year for Reading, and his 39 points places him in nineteenth place in scoring amongst rookies in the ECHL.
v Over the course of the season, the Royals are now 23-2-5 when scoring the game's first goal.
v Dany Roussin scored the Royals' third-and game winning goal-on the power play in Saturday's 4-2 win over Trenton, snapping a four game goal-less drought.
- Roussin also picked up an assist in Saturday's game, marking his twelfth multi-point performance of the season.
- Saturday's gwg was Roussin's team leading sixth game winning goal of the season-which is tied for second in the league in that category (and tied for first amongst rookies in the league).
- Roussin has scored twenty two goals and picked up twenty three assists (45 points), which places him tied for fifteenth in rookie scoring in the ECHL.
v Over the course of the week, Reading scored 3 power play goals in 16 chances with the man advantage-and have scored 16 pp goals over the last 77 chances with the man advantage over the course of the last fourteen games (an 18.1% scoring ratio).
- Over the course of the season, the Royals have scored 65 power play goals in 297 chances with the man advantage, a 21.9% scoring ratio, which is tied for third in the ECHL.
