Johnstown Chiefs News Release


The Johnstown Chiefs (25-21-11) went 1-1-0 last week. The Chiefs toppled the Reading Royals, in Reading, Friday night, 6-2. The Chiefs four game win streak was snapped Sunday, as the Chiefs fell at home to Greenville, 3-2. The Cheis will host Trenton, Wheeling, and Reading this weekend. Sunday will be another Heluva Good Quality Food Kids Day.

Game #56 (3/03/06) Johnstown 6 - READING 2 Cey 36 Saves
Morgan Cey stopped 36 shots, as six different Chiefs tallied goals, and the Chiefs ran their win streak to four with a 6-2 win. Jean Desrochers and J.B. Bittner had two assists, while Doug Andress and Justin Kelly added a goal and an assist. Zbynek Hrdel, John Toffey and Randy Rowe scored for the Chiefs.

Game #57 (3/05/06) Greenville 3 - JOHNSTOWN 2 Cey 38 Saves
A pair of fluke goals ended the Chiefs four game win streak, as the Tribe fell to Greenville, 3-2. The Chiefs led 2-1 heading to the third period, but a power play goal, then an unexpected carom off the backboards gave the Grrrowl a 3-2 lead. The Chiefs found themselves shorthanded for six of the final ten minutes, and were not able to tie the game. Dennis Packard, reassigned to the Chiefs on Saturday, scored both Chefs goals. His line-mate Zbynek Hrdel added assists on both goals.
