Idaho Steelheads News Release

BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads wore one-of-a-kind pink jerseys last week as part of a fundraiser for breast cancer care and treatment, and in doing so set a record for most dollars raised from a jersey auction at Qwest Arena. The Pink in the Rink jersey auction raised $21,791 for St. Luke's Regional Medical Center's Mountain States Tumor Institute (MSTI).

The team wore the jerseys for the three-game series against the Phoenix RoadRunners Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Silent auction tables were set up on the concourse during the three games and fans bid on their favorite player's jersey and/or bought it outright for $1,000. The jerseys were presented to the winning bidder by the player immediately following Saturday's game. All of the dollars raised have gone to St. Luke's.

Twelve jerseys were sold for $1,000 including D'Arcy McConvey, Matt Yeats, Jeremy Mylymok, Scott Burt, Jared Bourassa, Marty Flichel, Jeremy Yablonski, Tyler Kindle, David Bararuk, Greg Hornby, Garett Bembridge, and Steelheads Mascot Bonk. The rest of the team's jerseys sold for $400 to $600 each.

In addition to the jerseys, a limited number of pink ball caps were sold at the three games and all proceeds also went to the fundraiser - the caps sold out.

The Steelheads and St. Luke's have teamed up in the past to auction off jerseys and have to-date raised approximately $120,000 for the hospital.
