March 6, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Trenton Devils News Release

TRENTON, NJ - The Trenton Titans finished up their season-high five-game road trip with a 1-4-0 record as they remain in fifth place in the North Division at 26-28-2.

The Titans traveled to Toledo on Wednesday for the first of two matches against the Storm. Mike James was able to register a power play goal 6:41 into the contest to help set the tone for Toledo. Chris Blight and Matt Schmidt also picked up goals for the Storm before Jim Henkel got the Titans on the board on the man-advantage at 9:04 of the third period to make the final score 3-1 in favor of Toledo. Rejean Beauchemin had an outstanding night in net stopping 48 of 51 in recording the tough luck loss.

The rematch on Friday looked as though it would be a nail-biter after two periods with the Titans trailing the Storm 2-1. Six goals by Toledo in the third period - including three in the opening 3:49 of the frame - broke the game wide open en route to a 8-2 Titans loss. Former Titans Matt Zultek opened the scoring for the Storm with a power play goal at 17:51 of the first period. Dave McCulloch picked up his first goal in a Titans' uniform with a tally on the man-advantage in the third.

Trenton looked to complete their road swing on a high note as they faced off against the Reading Royals on Saturday night. It only took forty seconds for the scoreless tie to be broken as Grant Jacobsen lit the lamp for 1-0 Royals lead. Chris Pittman answered right back for the Titans two minutes later with his seventeenth of the season. Doug Christiansen was able to pick up another Reading goal before the end of the period and Dany Roussin notched the eventual game-winner on the power play in the second stanza to help give the Royals a 4-2 win. Beauchemin had another busy night facing 43 shots and stopping 39.

The Titans take the ice for four games this week with three on their home ice. Trenton will go against the Greenville Grrrowl on Tuesday, March 7 before traveling for a game versus the Johnstown Chiefs on Friday, March 10. The Titans then come home for a two-game set against the Toledo Storm on Saturday, March 11 and Sunday, March 12.
