Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Reading Royals (35-14-2-1) pulled out in front in the second period and never looked back as they defeated the Cincinnati Cyclones (24-22-1-4) by a 4-1 final score in front of 6,994 at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday night.

The Cyclones drew first blood at the 3:14 mark when Branden Gracel blasted a one-timer past Kenny Reiter (W, 34 saves, 3-0) after a perfect feed from Josh Shalla. Unfortunately, the Royals would answer right back just 23 seconds later as Olivier Labelle fired a shot past Sam Brittain (L, 23 saves, 14-11-0-1) to even things at one through 20 minutes.

The middle period continued to be a defensive stalemate until the 15:01 mark when Kevin Walrod broke in on a two-on-one rush, caught a pass from Pat Mullane, and roofed a shot over Brittain to make it 2-1. Despite holding a 23-19 shot advantage after two periods, the Cyclones found themselves down by one.

Cincinnati continued to ferociously attempt to knot the score throughout the final period, but came up empty as Reiter kept shutting the door - despite some great opportunities. The Royals would put the game out of reach at 14:50 when David Marshall muscled home his 17th goal of the season, making it a 4-1 game. Then, at 18:15, Adam Hughesman potted an empty net strike to cap the scoring at 4-1, which turned out to be the final score.

Cincinnati will play their next five games away from Downtown Cincinnati beginning next Saturday night when they visit the Evansville IceMen at 8:15pm ET. Fans can hear the action of the game on the Cyclones Radio Network beginning at 7:55pm ET and watch LIVE at the Game Time Sports Bar and Grill in Cheviot.

The Cyclones will be return to U.S. Bank Arena on Friday, March 13 when they welcome in the Orlando Solar Bears at 7:30pm!
