KALAMAZOO- One defenseman has been added to the Kalamazoo Wings, while another has been reassigned to the Chicago Wolves.

The K-Wings have completed a trade with the Florida Everblades for defenseman Steven Kaunisto. Steven is the cousin of K-Wings forward Ray Kaunisto. This will be the first time since junior's (2004-05, Soo Eagles) that the two have been teammates.

Kaunisto began the season with the Rapid City Rush and was traded on February 12th to the Everblades. Last season, Kaunisto was the fifth best scoring defenseman in the CHL and helped the Denver Cutthroats to the league's Finals.

A native of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Kaunisto was a four-year standout for Lake Superior State University.

Kaunisto is expected to be in the K-Wings lineup for their game tonight.

In separate transaction, defenseman Jake Chelios has been reassigned to the Wolves. Chelio's reassignment to Chicago marks the 22nd time this season that a member of the K-Wings has been either called-up or loaned to an AHL team.

A tradition will continue tonight, Saturday, February 21st, as the K-Wings host the Evansville IceMen during the 15th Annual Pink Ice Game and the 4th Annual Susan G. Komen Night presented by Eaton Corporation. The K-Wings will don special Susan G. Komen jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game. The K-Wings will honor breast cancer survivors during a pregame ceremony.

The K-Wings will conclude the week on Sunday, February 22nd with a 3 p.m. faceoff versus the Wheeling Nailers during Family Hockey Day in the 'ZOO. The first 500 kids (ages 12 and under) will eat FREE and receive either a Princess Tiara or a Pirate's Hat and Eye Patch. Sunday will be Princesses, Pirates and Knights Day. A Snow Princess and Rapunzel will be interacting with children during pregame and the first period. Family's can also make their experience special by visiting the face-painters and taking a snap shot at the FREE photo booth. Following the game the K-Wings will host a post game skate with the players, presented by United Healthcare (skate rental if needed is $3).
