Colorado Eagles News Release

ONTARIO, Calif. -The Colorado Eagles (33-17-0-2) couldn't muster enough late heroics to comeback against the Ontario Reign (30-15-3-4), falling 3-2, on Friday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Ontario struck first 9:17 into the first period when forward Maxim Kitsyn sniped his team into the lead past Eagles goaltender Clarke Saunders, giving the Reign an early 1-0 lead.

After a scoring drought, the Reign took a 2-0 advantage when forward Rocco Carzo trickled a shot from outside the crease past Saunders with 2:55 remaining in the second. 34 seconds later, Ontario scored again as forward Judd Blackwater snapped home a one-time pass from linemate Tristan King, leading to the 3-0 lead which the Reign would take into the second intermission.

Colorado found themselves on the attack 33 seconds into the third when forward Greg Gardner hammered home a rebound from linemate Nathan Moon to pull the Eagles within two scores, 3-1. With 6:22 remaining in the game, Colorado forward Chris Knowlton buried a cross-ice pass from defenseman Teigan Zahn past Ontario netminder Adam Brown to bring the Eagles within one, 3-2.

That is as close as it would get, as the Eagles fell to the Reign by a 3-2 final. With the win, Ontario climbs to within one point of the Eagles in the Pacific Division with a critical rematch coming up on Sunday.
