ONTARIO, Calif. - Ontario Reign (30-15-3-4), four-time ECHL Pacific Division Champions and proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's 2014 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets, held on for a 3-2 victory over the Colorado Eagles (33-17-0-2) in front of a sell-out crowd of 9,395 on Friday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Ontario opened the scoring at 9:17 of the first period when Maxim Kitsyn fired a shot past Colorado netminder Clarke Saunders for his 16th goal of the season. Tristan King picked up the assist.

Halfway into the second frame, the Reign continued applying offensive pressure, but could not get the puck past Saunders, outshooting the Eagles 7-1.

Colorado's Vitalijs Pavlovs almost scored on a wraparound attempt at 13:33, but it was ruled a no-goal after further review.

The Reign took a 2-0 lead after Rocco Carzo tucked one home at 17:05 on a bounce back by Judd Blackwater.

Just moments later, Blackwater snuck the puck past Saunders at 17:39 to extend the lead to three. King and Kitsyn were each credited with an assist.

Leading 3-0 at the end of the second, the Reign outshot the Eagles, 16-10.

Greg Gardner rebounded a shot at 0:33 of the third period to put the Eagles on the board. Colorado's Chris Knowlton then tucked a goal past Adam Brown's glove to pull the Eagles within one.

Colorado pulled Saunders for the extra attacker, but the Reign defense held firm to secure the win.

Brown picked up the victory with 31 saves; Saunders took the loss with 26 stops.
