
Royals end road winless streak

Reading split two games on the road this week. The Royals remained winless in Johnstown, losing to the Chiefs 4-2 on Saturday night. Reading traveled onto Roanoke for their only visit on Sunday afternoon. The Royals completed the regular season sweep over the Express with a 4-3 come-from-behind victory. Reading trailed 3-1 heading into the third period, but bounced back to post three unanswered goals to end an eight game winless streak on the road.
The Royals end January and begin February with four games this week. The Royals finish up with their third straight road game this Wednesday in Cincinnati. The Royals return home to battle the Augusta Lynx for their only meeting in the Sovereign Center. CTCE is handing out sportsbags to the first 1,000 children 12-and-under. Reading battles the Johnstown Chiefs in Johnstown for the final time this season on Saturday night. Superbowl Sunday afternoon, Reading hosts the Dayton Bombers for the first and only meeting in the Jungle in Reading. Game time is set for 1:05 p.m.

GAME NOTES: The Johnstown Chiefs held serve at home beating the Royals 4-2 and claiming a three games to two edge in the Keystone Cup Series. Each team is perfect at home so far in the ten game regular season set. Reading got goals from Mat Snesrud (6) on the power play and Nick Lent (6) shorthanded in the second stanza to trail the Chiefs heading into period three, 3-2. Reading outshot Johnstown 20-4 in the final period but could not get the equalizer. The Chiefs and Royals meet for the fifth and final time in the month of January next Saturday.
Sunday, January 25 @ Roanoke Roanoke Civic Center 4:00PM
GAME NOTES: Graig Mischler scored at 2:20 of overtime as the Royals came-from-behind to beat the Roanoke Express, 4-3. The Royals trailed 3-1 after two periods, but got goals from Scooter Smith and David Masse in the third period to force overtime. Reading outshot Roanoke 19-4 in the third stanza. The win was the eighth on the road for Reading this season. Goaltender Peter Hamerlik registered his second win in a Royals uniform. The Royals posted a perfect 3-0-0 mark against the Express in the regular season.

GAME NOTES: The Reading Royals and Cincinnati Cyclones meet for the second of four meetings this season. The Royals beat the Cyclones 5-2 in Reading on December 19. Reading is now 4-3-0 against the Cyclones while in Reading and 3-2-0 in US Bank Arena in Cincinnati in their brief history.
Friday, January 30 vs. Augusta Sovereign Center 7:05PM
GAME NOTES: The Royals and Augusta Lynx meet for the third of three scheduled regular season meetings. This is the first-ever meeting between the Lynx and Royals in Reading. Reading beat Augusta in overtime on their last meeting on November 30, 2-1. Ian Turner scored the overtime game winner against current Royals netminder Peter Hamerlik. Hamerlik stopped 41 shots in the loss for the Lynx.
Sunday, January 31 @ Johnstown War Memorial 7:00PM
GAME NOTES: This is the fifth and final meeting between the Chiefs and Royals in the month of January. Home ice has been the key in the Keystone Cup series with the Chiefs winning the last meeting last Saturday in Johnstown, 4-2. Reading is 2-3-0 so far this season against the Chiefs. This is the final visit to the old War Memorial in Johnstown, PA for the Royals. The Chiefs and Royals will meet four more times this season to finish off the regular season series.
Sunday, February 1 vs. Dayton Sovereign Center 1:05PM
GAME NOTES: The Dayton Bombers make their only visit to Reading this season. The Royals are 1-0-0 against the Bombers this season. A season high eight goals paced the Royals paced the Bombers on December 12 in the Nutter Center in Dayton. The Royals posted a season high five power play goals in the victory. Reading and Dayton will meet on February 13 in Dayton to finish off the regular season series.

* Royals claimed their first victory of the season when trailing after two periods (1/25 @ Roanoke) - 1-10-1
* Reading snapped season high 8-game winless streak on the road with overtime win in Roanoke
