RETURNING TO NORMAL: Greensboro returns to normality in the schedule, following one game in the last nine days, with consecutive games at home against the Gwinnett Gladiators and Charlotte Checkers. The Generals will then hit the road again, taking on the Wheeling Nailers on Friday night.

CHARLOTTE—For the third different time this season, the Greensboro Generals have won four consecutive games, and at the same time the team has captured four consecutive road wins all in the same fashion. The feat became reality when a 22-save performance by netminder Jamie Hodson paced the way for a 1-0 victory over the Charlotte Checkers.

An early first period goal, coming just 1:28 into the contest by Mark Turner, proved to be all that Greensboro would need en route to the win. With Turner coming off the Generals bench because of the team penetrating the offensive zone, a hard shot by defenseman Geno Parrish rebounded to Turner who sent the shot from the point into the back of the net for the game's only goal.

Defensive stands by Greensboro, combined with the Checkers attempting 16 shots over the second and third period, helped pave the way for the first shutout of the season. The Generals faced two separate Checker power-play situations in the third period which they managed to stave off with tough defensive play, the most important coming with just under one minute remaining in the game. The Checkers removed netminder David St. Germain in favor of giving themselves an extra skater, when on a break-away Doug Christiansen got a one-on-one opportunity with Hodson, where he was stopped. The Generals defense replied by passing the puck in their own offensive zone to stop the Checkers scoring opportunities.

EASTERN CONFERENCE 7, WESTERN CONFERENCE 6

Peoria, Ill. - The Eastern Conference collected four unanswered tallies in the third period to come back from a three-goal deficit and beat the Western Conference 7-6 in the 2004 Par-A-Dice ECHL All-Star Game on Wednesday before 7,242 at Carver Arena.

Peoria left wing and Eastern Conference Captain Randy Rowe netted the game winner at 11:18 of the third period. Florida's Brian McCullough, who was stationed behind the goal, found Rowe streaking through the slot. Rowe quickly lifted the puck over Idaho's Dan Ellis for his second tally of the game. Wheeling's Jason Jaffray also registered an assist on the goal.

Rowe was the game's only two-goal scorer as he collected three points in the game and earned MVP honors in front of his hometown fans.

The Eastern Conference knotted the game 6-6 at 8:02 of the third. Johnstown's Jason Notermann one-touched the puck past Ellis from the right post on a tic-tac-toe passing play with Columbia's Alex Burrows and Greensboro's Tom Reimann.

The Eastern Conference got within one tally at 4:37 of the third. Toledo's Morten Ask, skating through the slot, found Charlotte's Dusty Jamieson in the right faceoff circle for a one-time slap shot goal just under the crossbar.

The Eastern Conference got within two at 2:46 of the third when Jaffray, stationed at the right goal post, took a pass from McCullough, who was on the opposite post, and slapped the puck into an open goal past Ellis, who was pulled out of position. Rowe also had an assist on the tally.

Trenton's Chris Houle stopped 10 of 10 shots in the third period for the Eastern Conference victory. Johnstown's Cory Campbell turned away eight of 11 chances in the second period, and Atlantic City's Scott Stirling stopped 10 of 13 shots in the first.

Ellis turned away 13 of 17 shots in the loss. Gwinnett's Michael Garnett stopped 24 of 26 chances in the middle session, and Louisiana's Fred Cloutier turned aside 10 of 11 shots in the first period.

Rowe opened the scoring 43 seconds into the game, the fastest goal in ECHL All-Star Game history. Rowe shoveled a rebound in after McCullough was stopped by Cloutier. Jaffray also picked up an assist on the goal.

The Western Conference knotted the game 1-1 at 3:31 of the first period. Idaho's David Cornacchia rifled a shot from the high slot that Mississippi's Steffon Walby tipped past Stirling. Mississippi's Brent Gauvreau also recorded an assist on the goal.

Gwinnett's Troy Milam gave the Western Conference its first lead of the night at 13:59 of the first. Bakersfield's Andrew Ianiero found Milam in the right face-off circle for a wrist shot just inside the left goal post.

Texas' John Snowden scored from an unbelievable angle for a 3-1 advantage at 15:59 of the first. After taking a pass from Long Beach's Nick Ganga, Snowden - behind the end redline to the right side of the Eastern Conference net - flipped the puck off the back of Stirling's leg and into the goal.

The Western Conference pushed its lead to 4-1 at 1:30 of the second period. Alaska's Joe Talbot finished off a rebound after Pensacola's Greg Chambers was initially stopped by Campbell. Columbus' J-F Plourde also collected an assist on the tally.

The Eastern Conference finally answered at 5:14 of the second, making it 4-2. Reading's David Masse broke into the zone on right wing and beat Garnett with a snap shot from the right face-off circle. Jamieson and Florence's Mark McRae also assisted on the goal.

The Western Conference grabbed its three-goal lead back at 7:59 of the second period. Las Vegas' Dave Cousineau rocketed shot past Campbell from the right face-off circle after taking a pass from Snowden. Milam also registered an assist on the goal.

The Eastern Conference made it 5-3 at 16:00 of the second. Atlantic City's Sam Paolini wristed home a shot from the right face-off circle after Roanoke's Shawn Limpright broke up a clearing attempt.

The Western Conference gave itself a three-goal advantage for the third time in the second session, making it 6-3 just 19 seconds later. Talbot broke into the Eastern Conference end on right wing, feeding Pensacola's Corey Neilson for a one-time slap shot goal from the slot.

"Coaches Corner": The Greensboro Generals have announced Head Coach/General Manager Rick Adduono will appear on the "Our Town" radio show (WGOS 1070-AM) each Monday afternoon. The half-hour "Coaches Corner" will air each Monday at 1:00 PM throughout the season.

The "Coaches Corner" segment is part of the WGOS' "Our Town" program that is hosted by "Buffalo" Jack Umlaluf and Ogi Overman weekdays from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The show will feature interviews with Adduono as well as segments with Generals players and their involvement in the community.
