Trenton's Allen Named ITECH HOCKEY ECHL Saver of the Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Trenton goaltender Andrew Allen is the ITECH HOCKEY ECHL Saver of the Week for January 19-25.

Under contract to Ottawa of the National Hockey League, Allen was 2-0-0 with a shutout, a 0.50 goals against average and a .977 save percentage as the Titans won their first two games following the ECHL All-Star Game break.

The 27-year-old Allen made 26 saves in a 3-1 win against ECHL leader Wheeling on January 23. He picked up his second shutout of the season on January 24 making 17 saves in a 4-0 win against Roanoke.

Allen, who was called up to Binghamton of the American Hockey League in December but did not play, is 11-11-3 with a .915 save percentage and he ranks 20th in the league in goals against average with 2.67. The 6-4 and 210-pound Allen is 6-3-1 with two shutouts in his last 10 starts and has lowered his goals against average from 3.14 to 2.67 while raising his save percentage from .894 to .915.

In 2002-03, Allen was 3-0-1 with three shutouts, a 0.99 goals against average and a .955 save percentage in four regular season games with Trenton. He posted shutouts in his first three games with Trenton tying the ECHL record for consecutive shutouts set by Darryl Paquette of Hampton Roads, who posted three straight shutouts from March 25-29, 1997. Allen began the 2002-03 season with Dayton and was 5-9-3 with a 3.48 goals against average and a .882 save percentage in 19 games with the Bombers. He also appeared in five games with Binghamton in the AHL going 2-1-0 with a 1.92 goals against average and a .940 save percentage.
