Reading, PA – The ECHL, in cooperation with member clubs, released the 2004-05 schedule today. For the second straight season, the ECHL's opening weekend will take place a week later. Reading will travel to Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton, New Jersey to battle the Titans on Friday, October 22 to open the season. In all four years of existence, the Royals have met the Titans on the road to begin the regular campaign. Reading will battle three new opponents for the first time in their history. The Royals will tangle with the Mississippi Sea Wolves, Louisiana IceGators and Pensacola Ice Pilots during their season high seven-game road trip from December 18 through January 4. In total, Reading will play ten non-divisional games, six on the road and four at home.

Reading will almost be exclusively battling Northern Division opponents during the regular season. The Royals will play North foes 62 times. Reading will host Trenton, Atlantic City and Wheeling five times, while traveling to the Titans, Bullies and Nailers barns five times, as well. Reading and Dayton will meet a record nine times in 2004-05. The Royals will host five of those contests. Toledo and Peoria will meet the Royals eight times, with each team hosting four battles. Finally, Johnstown and Reading will skate for the Keystone Cup, battle for Pennsylvania, seven times during the regular season with the Royals hosting four meetings.

The Royals will begin the majority of 2004-05 season on the road. Eighteen of the club's first 27 contests will be away from the friendly confines of the Sovereign Center. Conversely, Reading will close the regular season from March 1 to April 9 with 15 of the final 21 games in the "Jungle" in Reading. The Royals longest road swing is seven games, which begins in mid December and ends early in 2005. The longest home stretch takes place from November 9-20 when the Royals will play five straight in the Sovereign Center. Three times during the season (twice in March and once in April) Reading will be at home for four straight contests.

Reading will meet opponents in back-to-back situations, a new club record eleven times, while playing two opponents (Wheeling and Atlantic City) in back-to-back-to-back affairs. Six of the back-to-back meetings will take place in January. The Royals and Peoria Rivermen will meet three times back to back, while Trenton and Dayton (2), and Atlantic City, Texas and Johnstown (1) finish out the two games in 48-hours schedule.
