Gulls 2004-05 Schedule Announced

SAN DIEGO â The San Diego Gulls have announced their 2004-05 regular season schedule, which will begin Friday, Oct. 22 in Long Beach. San Diego, which enters its second season in the ECHL, will again play 72 regular season games, 60 of which will be against Pacific Division rivals.
The Gulls will open the season on the road for the second straight season and play the Ice Dogs on the season opener for the fourth time in the last five seasons. San Diego's home opener will be Saturday, Oct. 23 against the Fresno Falcons.
The Blue and Orange will go right back on the road for three games against the Alaska Aces, who eliminated the Gulls from the 2004 Kelly Cup Playoffs. Alaska makes its first visit to San Diego on Wednesday, Nov. 3. The Gulls and Aces will also square off in Anchorage, Alaska on Halloween and New Years Eve.
San Diego will get its first chance against the 2004 Kelly Cup Champion Idaho Steelheads in a three-game weekend series at the Sports Arena Friday, Dec. 3 through Sunday, Dec. 5. The Gulls' only trip to Boise, Idaho will also be a three-game set, Wednesday, March 30; Friday April 1 and Saturday, April 2.
New to the ECHL in 2004-05 are the Victoria Salmon Kings, who get their first-ever shot at the five-time Taylor Cup Champions in a three-game series in Victoria, British Columbia: Friday, Dec. 17; Saturday, Dec. 18 and Monday, Dec. 20. The Salmon Kings make their first-ever visit to San Diego to close out the regular season: Thursday, April 7 through Saturday, April 9.
The Gulls will again play 12 games against teams outside the Pacific Division, which includes a seven-game road trip against Northern Division teams from Friday, Jan. 28 to Sunday, Feb. 6. That trip will feature the Blue and Orange's first-ever visits to Peoria, Ill.; Dayton, Ohio; Toledo, Ohio; Wheeling W. Va. and Johnstown, Pa.
San Diego will play five home games against non-Pacific Division teams, which includes the reigning Eastern Conference Champion Florida Everblades on Thursday, Nov. 4. The Gulls will also play host to the Peoria Rivermen on Wednesday, Jan. 5; Pensacola Ice Pilots on Saturday, Jan. 22; Wheeling Nailers on Wednesday, Feb. 16 and the Gwinnett Gladiators on Sunday, March 27.
