Greensboro Generals News Release
GREENSBOROâThe ECHL announced its 2004-05 regular season schedule today, and for first time in the Greensboro Generals six-year franchise history the team will open the ECHL regular season at home in consecutive seasons. The Generals finished the 2003-04 season with a record of 40-30-2, marking back-to-back seasons with 40-wins, including a 20-15-1 record on home ice at the Greensboro Coliseum. Greensboro will start the 2004-05 season when facing off against the 2003 Kelly Cup Champion Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies on Friday October 22nd.
Beginning on November 6th, the first full month of action for the Generals, a stretch of seven consecutive home games will mark the longest home stand of the season. In this span the Generals will face 2003-04 Southern Divisional champion Columbia for the first time, followed by Atlantic City, Texas twice during a weekend series, Greenville, Columbia, and close out the home stand facing off against Charlotte on November 24th.
On the flip side, Greensboro will take to the road for a seven-game, 3,941-mile road trip, highlighted on January 14th and 15th with consecutive games at ECHL Eastern Conference Kelly Cup representative Florida. The Generals will then head to Roanoke, followed by back-to-back games against the Texas Wildcatters, marking Greensboro's first ever meeting in Texas. The Generals will close out the road stretch with two-games at Pensacola.
An October 26th match-up against the Greenville Grrrowl will mark the first of 10 "Thirsty Thursdays" with draft beer available for $1.00. The Generals will also have six Friday games, and 11 games on Saturday night.
The Generals will again have eight opportunities to maintain possession of the Carolina Cup, an award handed out annually to the winner of the head-to-head match-ups between Greensboro and the Charlotte Checkers. The first game will come on November 5th when Greensboro travels to Cricket Arena to face-off against Charlotte. The Generals will then face the Checkers on November 24th for the first home meeting. The two teams will meet three times in the final three weeks of the season, capped off when Greensboro travels to Charlotte on April 8th.
The Generals are currently in the final week of Early Bird renewal special for season tickets. If you commit to your season ticket purchase (with a minimum deposit of $50 per seat) by the end of business on June 1, 2004, your season ticket price will be locked in at last season's ticket price ($399 - $249 depending on seat location).
