Left wing Chris Schmidt scored his sixth goal of the season and the game winner. Right wing Pavel Rosa recorded his team leading 24th goal of the season and center Steve Kelly added an empty netter to seal the deal for the Monarchs.

Vs. Right wing Pavel RosaÂ’s power play goal extended his goal streak to three games. Defenseman Bryan Muir finished off the Pirates with an empty net goal with 16 seconds left to play. Goaltender Adam Hauser made 20 saves en route to his 14th win of the year (14-13-6).

TEAM NOTEs

Defenseman Bryan Muir collected a season high three assists (0-3=3) in the Monarchs 5-3 win over the Lowell Lock Monsters on Friday. Two of his three assists were registered in the third period. The Monarchs had the only two goals in the period and went on to beat the Lock Monsters for a fourth consecutive time.

Muir equaled a season high by attempting eight shots in the Monarchs 3-1 win over the Portland Pirates on Saturday. He closed the scoring with an empty net goal.

Muir has eight assists (0-8=8) and a plus-6 rating in nine games against the Lock Monsters this season. He has four points (2-2=4) and a plus-7 rating in nine games against the Pirates this season.

Muir has gone penalty free in his last six games. He had 41 penalty minutes in the six games leading up to his current streak.

Muir has finished with an even or better rating in each of his last nine games. His plus-19 overall rating ranks third best among defensemen in the AHL.

MuirÂ’s 37 points (9-28=37) rank third overall among league defensemen, as do his 28 assists.

Muir has five points (2-3=5) over his last five games with a plus-4 rating. He has seven points (2-5=7) over his last 10 games with a plus-7 rating.

MuirÂ’s next point will be his 150th in the AHL. In 333 career AHL games, he has 48 goals and 101 assists.

Right wing Pavel Rosa enters action this week with a three-game goal streak (three goals during the streak) and a four-game point streak (3-3=6). Rosa, who also had a three-game goal streak from October 17-19, is one game away from matching the Monarchs longest goal streak of the season. Left wing Noah Clarke had a goal in four straight games from February 18-23. He had five total goals during the streak.

Rosa is the owner of the two longest point streaks for the Monarchs this season. He collected 13 points (6-7=13) during a nine-game point streak that lasted from November 22-December 6, and he had 12 points (7-5=12) during an eight-game point streak that lasted from December 20-January 4.

Rosa leads the Monarchs and ranks second overall in the AHL with 64 points (25-39=64) in 59 games. HeÂ’s already passed his point total from last season when he finished second on the Monarchs with 63 points (28-35=63) in 61 games.

With 18 games left on the schedule, Rosa needs just 10 points to become the Monarchs all-time single season scoring leader. Left wing Eric Healey, who played two seasons with the Monarchs (2001-03), is the current record holder after scoring 73 points (42-31=73) during the 2002-03 season.

Rosa is also chasing center Steve Kelly for the Monarchs all-time single season assist record. He has 39 assists. Kelly set the club record with 44 assists last season.

Kelly has three points (1-2=3) in two games since returning from an injury. He ranks second on the Monarchs with 51 points (14-37=51) in 45 games. Kelly, who suffered a separated shoulder against the Worcester IceCats on February 11, is the Monarchs all-time assist and point leader with 102 assists and 145 points in 147 career games with the Monarchs.

Kelly picked up his 250th AHL point with an assist on Saturday against the Pirates. In 283 career AHL games, Kelly has 75 goals and 175 assists.

Defenseman Joe Rullier tied a Monarchs season high by finishing with a plus-4 rating against the Lock Monsters on Friday. Rullier, the Monarchs all-time games played leader with 181 games to his credit over the last three seasons, is plus-5 in his last two games and plus-8 overall this season.

Goaltender Adam Hauser has stopped 106 of the 110 shots heÂ’s faced from the Pirates this season for a save-percentage of .964. He has a record of 2-1-2 in five appearances against the Pirates this season with a goals-against-average of 0.77.

Clarke, who last week became the first Monarchs rookie to score 20 goals in a season, moved into eighth on the Monarchs all-time goals scored list with a pair of goals against the Lock Monsters on Friday. Clarke has 22 goals in 58 games this season and 23 goals in 61 career games with the Monarchs.
