Manchester Monarchs News Release

MANCHESTER, NH – The Los Angeles Kings, the NHL affiliate of the Manchester Monarchs, announced on Monday the acquisition of right wing Anson Carter from the Washington Capitals in exchange for forward and former Monarch Jared Aulin. Carter, 29, has played in 62 games this season with the Capitals and the New York Rangers, recording 27 points (15-12=27) and 20 penalty minutes. He has appeared in 19 games for the Capitals this season, recording 10 points (5-5=10) and six penalty minutes, after being acquired by the Capitals from the Rangers on January 23 in exchange for Jaromir Jagr. In 43 games for the Rangers this season, Carter recorded 17 points (10-7=17) and 14 penalty minutes. A four-time 20-goal scorer in the NHL, Carter also has scored six power play goals this season, and he has four game-winning goals and one short-handed goal.

Carter, a 6-foot-1, 209-pound native of Toronto, Ontario, was originally selected by the Quebec Nordiques in the 10th round (220th overall) in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut with the Capitals during the 1996-97 season, and has appeared in 514 career NHL regular season games with the Capitals, the Rangers, the Edmonton Oilers and the Boston Bruins, recording 377 points (158-179=377) and 170 penalty minutes. In 24 career NHL post-season games, he has 13 points (8-5=13) and four penalty minutes.

Aulin, 21, has yet to play this season after suffering a dislocated shoulder in the Kings rookie tournament on September 8. The 6-foot-0, 192-pound native of Calgary, Alberta, registered 44 points (12-32=44) in 44 games with the Monarchs, and four points (2-2=4) in 17 games with the Kings last season, his first as a professional. Selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the second-round (47th overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, Aulin was acquired by the Kings from the Avalanche on March 22, 2001. He was the player to be named later in the February 21, 2001 deal that sent forward Adam Deadmarsh and defenseman Aaron Miller to the Kings in exchange for defenseman Rob Blake, forward Steve Reinprecht and a first-round selection in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

The Kings (25-19-16-7; 73 points) return to the ice on Tuesday, March 9 versus the Phoenix Coyotes at Staples Center at 10:30 p.m. (EST) in the first game of a home-and-home series.

The Monarchs (30-21-6-5, 71 points), ranked second in the AHL's Atlantic Division, return home on Wednesday, March 10 to host the Springfield Falcons at 7:05 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena.
