Providence Bruins News Release
Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 18th year in the American Hockey League, announced that they have recalled defenseman Jared Ross from the ECHL's Reading Royals. With the move, the P-Bruins have 24 players on their roster, including 15 forwards, seven defensemen and two goaltenders.
Ross, 25, returns from Reading, where he has appeared in 21 games, totaling three goals and two assists. He was assigned to Reading on January 26 and suited up for one game, a 4-1 loss to the Gwinnett Gladiators the following night. Over two previous call-ups to Providence, Ross has recorded two assists in 18 contests. Both points came during the rookie's last recall as he tallied his first career AHL helper against the Lowell Devils on December 20, 2009.
Prior to turning pro, the undrafted Ross spent four seasons with the St. Lawrence University Saints, where he recorded 48 points (22g, 26a) in 134 collegiate games. The Stony Island, Nova Scotia, native later made his pro debut during the 2009 ECHL playoffs following the conclusion of his senior season, collecting one assist in two playoff games for the Elmira Jackals. Ross signed an AHL contract with Providence on August 11, 2009 and participated in the P-Bruins' training camp this season before being assigned to Reading.
The P-Bruins travel to face the Springfield Falcons on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. for the first of a home-and-home series as Providence then hosts Springfield on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. for Kids Hat Night. The hats are free to the first 1,000 kids age 12 and under. To purchase 2009-10 season tickets, Flex Tix or individual game tickets, please call the Providence Bruins ticket office at (401) 273-5000 or log on to the team website at www.providencebruins.com.
