
Bulldogs Edge Wolves With 3-2 Shootout Win

Chicago, IL - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Chicago Wolves 3-2 in a shootout on Saturday night in Chicago. The Wolves tied the game late in the third period, but the âDogs prevailed as Shawn Belle scored the winning goal in the shootout.
The Bulldogs opened game's scoring at 13:45 of the first period while on the power play. David Desharnais received the puck from P.K. Subban before feeding a pass to Andre Benoit, who blasted a shot that sailed past Chicago starting goaltender Kari Lehtonen. With the goal, Benoit becomes the all-time leader in goals scored by a Bulldogs defenceman as it was the 22nd marker of his Bulldog career.
The âDogs took a 2-0 lead at 19:02 of the second stanza. Ryan Russell received the puck from Belle before snapping a shot towards the net. The puck bounced off the blocker of Lehtonen, off the post and into the back of the net.
The Wolves made the game 2-1 at 1:03 of the final frame. Jason Krog fired a shot that was saved by Hamilton starting goaltender Cedrick Desjardins. The puck bounced around the pads of Desjardins, before Brett Sterling jammed the puck underneath the goaltender. Nathan Oystrick tied the game 2-2 at 15:21. Tim Stapleton dished a pass to Oystrick, who one-timed a shot. The puck sailed over the blocker of Desjardins and into the net.
The game went to a shootout after neither team could score in the overtime period. Subban scored for Hamilton while Anthony Stewart replied for the Wolves before Shawn Belle scored the winning goal as the fifth shooter for the âDogs.
