Pirates Try Hockey For Free Event

Portland, Maine - The Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League and the Casco Bay Youth Hockey Association welcomed 35 new skaters to the Cumberland County Civic Center Saturday morning during the "Try Hockey for Free Event".
The event was part of USA Hockey's "Hockey Weekend Across America Campaign" created by USA Hockey and implemented by hockey teams and associations across the United States this weekend in an effort to grow the game of hockey throughout the United States.
The 35 skaters participated in a one hour practice and enjoyed learning about the game, basic skating and puck handling techniques and the importance of teamwork and fair play.
