Rookie goaltender receives first promotion

Dayton, OH- Dayton Bombers Head Coach and General Manager Don MacAdam announced today that the Columbus Blue Jackets of the NHL have recalled goaltender Dan LaCosta to the "AAA" Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League.

LaCosta, a 6'1", 186-pound native of Labrador City, Newfoundland, has appeared in four games with the Bombers this season, posting a record 1-2-1, 4.16 goals against average and a .841 save percentage.

Prior to being assigned to Dayton by the Blue Jackets at the beginning of this season, LaCosta spent the 2005-06 season with the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League. He appeared in 59 games, posting a record of 36-17-4, 2.55 goals against average, and a .915 save percentage along with six shutouts. He was named an Eastern Conference All-Star with the Colts and has recorded three career assists as well. LaCosta was selected by the Blue Jackets in the 3rd round as the #93 pick overall in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.
