The Kelowna Rockets fell 6-3 to the Victoria Royals in their final visit of the regular season to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Arena in Victoria, BC.

Max Graham scored the opening goal of the game; breaking the Rockets scoreless drought that saw the team unable to score in their last two games, spanning 177 minutes. Victoria then jumped ahead, netting four unanswered goals that the Rockets were never able to catch.

The Rockets power play came alive on the night, finding the back of the net three times on their eight chances.

GAME SUMMARY

Gabriel Szturc's shot ricocheted off of Braden Holt, an awaiting Max Graham (8) at the side of the net swatted the puck past Holt. The Royals tied the game at one after the puck went off of Matthew Hodson's (10) skate and past Jari Kykkanen.

Robin Sapousek (1) gave the Royals their first lead of the game 32 seconds into the second period. Victoria then doubled up on their lead with goals from Riley Gannon (12) and Alex Edwards (3). Dylan Wightman (7) made it a two-goal game again with a one-timer from the left faceoff circle while on the power play.

Tanner Scott (8) restored the Royals three-goal lead on the power play 1:28 into the third. Max Graham (9) and Matthew Hodson (11) then exchanged powerplay goals.

Kelowna outshot Victoria 30-27

The Rockets were 3/8 on the power play, while the Royals were 2/4

Matthew Hodson was the game's first star, Robin Sapousek was the second and Matthew Hodson was the third star

The Rockets record is now 13-23-3-0

Kykkanen stopped 21 of the 27 shots he faced

Andrew Cristall (lower body), Ty Hurley (lower body) and Carson Golder (upper body) missed the game with injuries

Marek Rocak picked up his first WHL point, an assist on Graham's second goal

UP NEXT

Kelowna will kick off a busy three games in three nights on Friday, January 20 when they face the Vancouver Giants in Langley at 7:30 pm.

The Rockets will return home to Prospera Place to host the Giants on Saturday, January 21st and the Royals on Sunday, January 22nd.
