Kelowna Rockets News Release
The Victoria Royals held the Kelowna Rockets off the scoreboard, shutting them out 4-0 on Friday night at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Arena in Victoria, BC.
The Rockets were unable to generate offence at even strength or on the man advantage, with the Royals shutting down Kelowna's four attempts on the power play.
It was the second consecutive game that the Rockets did not register a goal, the Prince George Cougars shut the Rockets down 3-0 on Wednesday.
GAME SUMMARY
Matthew Hodson skated into the slot drawing both Rockets defenders toward him, then dished the puck back to Reggie Newman (4) in the right faceoff dot to wire it high over Talyn Boyko's glove. Teague Patton (9) made a move in the slot to double up the Royals lead on the Rockets. Jari Kykkanen replaced Boyko in net following the second goal.
Riley Gannon (11) deposited the puck into the Rockets empty net with 62 seconds to go in the game. Ryan Spizawka (1) then jumped on a rebound with a scramble in front of the Kelowna net seconds later.

Braden Holt was the game's first star, Reggie Newman was the second and Matthew Hodson was the third star

Kykkanen stopped 29 of the 30 shots he faced in 44:59 of action
Andrew Cristall (lower body), Ty Hurley (lower body) and Carson Golder (upper body) both missed the game with injuries
Trae Johnson made his debut with the Rockets after being acquired from Brandon on Tuesday

Kelowna will face the Royals again tomorrow at 6:05 pm on the island.
Following tomorrow's game, the Rockets will return to home ice at Prospera Place on Saturday, January 21st when they'll host the Vancouver Giants.
