Omaha Storm Chasers News Release
Salt Lake City, UT - Barry Enright, Jason Urquidez and Kevin Johnson combined on a seven-hitter as Salt Lake shut out Omaha, 3-0, Tuesday night in the last of four meetings at Spring Mobile Ballpark. The Storm Chasers fell to 59-59 and saw their lead over Memphis in the American Conference North Division trimmed to two games with 26 to play in the regular season.
Everett Teaford had retired 13 hitters in a row and kept the hosts hitless through 5 1/3 innings before Andrew Romine singled to spark the decisive three-run rally. Matt Long walked in front of Roberto Lopez, who doubled to drive in Romine and push Long to third base. Efren Navarro followed with a single that scored both runners to account for the final margin. The Omaha southpaw lasted seven innings but took the loss after allowing three hits, issuing three walks and striking out six. It was his first defeat in 21 starts with the Storm Chasers dating back to April 11, 2011 at Round Rock.
Enright spun seven innings during which he surrendered five hits, walked one, fanned four and did not permit a runner to advance past second base. Urquidez yielded singles to Gorkys Hernandez and Chris Getz to open the eighth but got Irving Falu to ground into a double play and struck out Brian Fletcher to squelch the threat. Johnson then retired the side in order to sew up the win and complete the fifth shutout against the Storm Chasers this season.
Omaha will send a starting pitcher to be determined, likely rehabilitating Kansas City right-hander Felipe Paulino, to the mound in Thursday night's series opener against Sacramento left-hander Tommy Milone at Werner Park. Coverage of the game gets underway at 6:45 pm and can be heard locally on 1180 Zone 2 The Deuce and online at omahastormchasers.com.
