Fresno Grizzlies News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Grizzlies extended their winning streak to a season-high seven games after defeating the Albuquerque Isotopes 2-0 on Monday at Chukchansi Park.

Led by starting pitcher Mike Kickham, the Grizzlies pitching staff once again showcased its finest stuff as it has done throughout the streak. Kickham allowed two hits to lead off the game, but settled in and surrendered just two more hits over a total of six innings pitched. The win for Kickham was his second straight.

The Grizzlies offense, which did not record its first hit until the fifth inning, came through in the sixth frame. Francisco Peguero dropped in a bloop single to center field to score Juan Perez and make it 1-0 Grizzlies. Peguero later scored in the inning on Justin Seller's errant throw during Hector Sanchez's force out.

The Grizzlies finished with seven hits, including two apiece from Perez and Peguero.

Other than an error to lead off the fifth inning, Kickham retired 10 of the final 11 batters he faced.

The Grizzlies bullpen maintained the shutout started by Kickham by allowing one hit over three combined innings. Fabio Castillo and George Kontos sandwiched Jake Dunning's one-hit eighth inning with perfect frames each. Kontos earned the save, his third of the season with Fresno.

Each of the last six games in Fresno's winning streak have been decided by two runs or less.

The shutout was the Grizzlies' third of the season and first since June 13th.

Fresno will look to sweep Albuquerque in the series finale on Tuesday at 7:05 pm. Right-hander Justin Fitzgerald of Fresno will oppose the Isotopes' Angel Castro.
