
Rivermen Head Coach Jason Christie to Appear on WEEK's "You Gotta Eat" on Thanksgiving

Peoria, Ill. (November 26, 2003) â President John Butler of the Peoria Rivermen of the ECHL announced today that Head Coach Jason Christie will appear on WEEK, News 25's (NBC) "You Gotta Eat."
The feature will air during News 25's 6:00 p.m. newscast on Thursday, November 27 (Thanksgiving) and will be replayed on the Noon Show the following day.
Christie, in his fourth season as Rivermen head coach, is one of five area head coaches who have been chosen to be a part of "You Gotta Eat" in November. He selected Rizzi's North on Sheridan Road as his restaurant for the segment.
The "You Gotta Eat" Team is made up of News 25 Noon News Anchor Eric Shangraw and Photographer and Rural Food Critic Don Washburn, also known as Dubbs. The two have dined with everyone from other News 25 anchors to city leaders, lawmakers and diners at various festival events.
The Rivermen host the archrival Dayton Bombers on Thanksgiving (Thursday, November 27) at 7:05 p.m. at Carver Arena. Fans are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to the game to receive a "Buy One, Get One Free Upper Bowl Ticket" offer for that night; all items will be donated to the Peoria Friendship House. Fans are also encouraged to bring a new or used coat to donate for the Salvation Army's "Coat for Kids" campaign. For a coat donation, they will receive a free soft drink, courtesy of Center Plate Catering and Coca-Cola, and a ticket to the Rivermen game on December 7.
The first 4,000 fans will receive a NEXTEL Rivermen Rally Towel.
On Friday, November 28, Peoria hosts Cincinnati in a 7:05 p.m. start at Carver Arena. Cutting Edge Salon of Morton will sponsor the inaugural "Haircuts for Charity" to benefit Children's Hospital of Illinois. Fans receive free haircuts all game long with tips and donations to benefit Children's Hospital of Illinois.
The Peoria Rivermen are a member of the ECHL â America's Premier "AA" Hockey League. The Rivermen will host the 2004 ECHL All-Star Game & Skills Competition on January 20-21, 2004. Tickets are available by calling 309.676.1040.
