Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors get set for a pair of matches this weekend, starting with the famous Teddy Bear Toss Night on Saturday against the Alaska Aces. Game time is 7:00pm. They also play on Sunday night in San Diego against the Gulls at 5:00pm.

This is the fifth season for the Teddy Bear Toss in Bakersfield, and the event has become one of the most popular nights of the season. Fans are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped teddy bear or stuffed animal to donate at the game. When the Condors score their first goal of the night, the teddy bears are thrown out onto the ice. Volunteers will collect the stuffed animals and give them to the United Way of Kern County, who will distribute them throughout the area to hospitals and local organizations during the holiday season. 29 Eyewitness News, KERN 1410 and The Bakersfield Californian sponsor the Teddy Bear Toss.

Last season's Teddy Bear Toss at Centennial Garden drew tremendous results. Over 4,600 stuffed animals were collected when Paul Rosebush scored the first Condors goal of the night. After four seasons of the Teddy Bear Toss in Bakersfield, over 13,000 stuffed animals have been collected. Of all the Teddy Bear Tosses last season in dozens of different cities nationwide, the Condors event was believed to be the biggest in the nation.

"If anyone hasn't been to Teddy Bear Toss Night, they don't know what they're missing," said Condors GM Chris Freshour. "It's an unbelievable sight to see thousands of stuffed animals raining down on the ice at once. We owe the success of this event to our fans and their remarkable generosity. They've made this one of the biggest nights of the season, and it has a profound event for kids in our community during the holidays."

On Sunday, the Condors travel to San Diego to take on the Gulls at 5:00pm from the San Diego Sports Arena. Bakersfield is 1-2-1 in the season series, with each game decided by one goal. The game can be heard on KGEO AM 1230 and live online at www.bakersfieldcondors.com. The "Condors Countdown" pregame show starts at 4:45pm.

With this Thursday being Thanksgiving, "The Condors Coach's Show" will be held tonight live from the Holiday Inn Select. It can be heard on KGEO AM 1230 with the "Voice of the Condors" Kevin Bartl and Head Coach Paul Kelly. This week's guests include rookie winger LW Devin Francon and veteran D Quinn Fair.

Individual seats may be purchased through the Centennial Garden box office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday, with extended hours on game days. Tickets may also be purchased by phone through at 322-2525, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at any Ticketmaster location.
