Pride Stuffed by Inferno

Columbia, SC November 26th - Paul Cabana scores his first hat trick of his professional career as the Inferno beat the Florence Pride 9-1 Wednesday night at the Carolina Coliseum. Cabana opened the scoring with his first goal of the night at 11:51 of the first period with Brandon Nolan on the assist. Barrie Moore scored under two minutes later on the power play from Corey Hessler and Tim Smith to give the Inferno a 2-0 lead. Cabana then scored his second goal of the night at 17:55 as Alex Burrows and Eric Labelle set him up.

Robin Carruthers scored his seventh goal of the season at 1:23 of the second period. Burrows scored at 16:08 with passes from Cabana and Terry Harrison to give the Inferno a 5-0 lead. Burrows scored his second goal of the night at 18:34. Labelle and Harrison had the assist.

Jesse Schultz and Derek Eastman fed the puck to Chris Pittman as he notched his sixth goal of the season on the power play 21 seconds into the third period. Less than 30 seconds later, Tim Smith netted the eighth goal for the Inferno with help from Carruthers and Moore. Cabana finished off the scoring for Columbia at 8:41 with his third goal of the night by taking passes from Sean Owens and Smith.

Rob McVicar was strong in goal stopping 17 of 18 shots to record his fifth win of the season. Mike Souza scored Florence's lone goal at 15:28 of the third period on a five-on-three.

The last time the Florence Pride took a regulation victory from the Inferno was November 27th, 2002 (363 days).

The Inferno will host the Augusta Lynx on Friday, November 28th at 7:30pm. Tickets will be available for purchase at 5:30pm at the Carolina Coliseum Box Office. Inferno fans are encouraged to bring a toy for "Toys For Tots" drive with the Marines.
