
Wildcatters Sign European Forward Lukas Smital

BEAUMONT, TX (November 26, 2003) â Texas Wildcatters Head Coach Robert Dirk announced today the Wildcatters have signed ECHL veteran Lukas Smital to a contract. As per club policy, financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The 29-year-old Smital has spent seven years in the ECHL playing with the Greensboro Generals, Jacksonville Lizard Kings, and Johnstown Chiefs. Smital has experience at the AAA level playing for the Saint-John Flames and Cleveland Barons. He played in 10 games in the AHL and netted 2 goals while with the Flames. The 6'1" 210 pound right wing brings offensive skills to Texas. While in Johnstown for the 1997-98 season, Smital had a career high 39 regular season goals accompanied by 26 assists.
"Lukas is a highly skilled player who will bring additional speed to our line-up," said Dirk. "He will be a major asset and will help provide balance to the Wildcatter scoring."
