River Rats Call Up Two Players From Florida

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that they have signed forwards Patrick Bordeleau and Mathieu Roy to professional tryout contracts (PTO), calling them up from the Florida Everblades of the ECHL.

Bordeleau, 22, returns for his second stint with the River Rats after making his American Hockey League debut with Albany on December 5th vs. Norfolk, where he recorded an assist for his first career AHL point. The Montreal, Quebec native played in three games for the River Rats, posting one assist and 14 penalty minutes; he also played in four games for Springfield (AHL) in early January. In 42 ECHL games this season Bordeleau has 21 points (9 goals, 12 assists) and 134 penalty minutes combined between Augusta and Florida. Bordeleau was originally drafted Minnesota Wild in the fourth round (114th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

Roy (pronounced WAH), 22, joins Albany with one game of AHL experience; he made his AHL debut with the Rochester Americans on March 8th vs. Providence and tallied one assist for his first career AHL point. The Amos, Quebec native is in his second pro season and has played in 58 games for the Everblades; he ranks second on the team in goals (20), third in PIMs (109), fifth in points (41) and seventh in assists (21). Roy was undrafted after playing four years in the QMJHL, where he scored a massive 289 points (144 goals, 145 assists) in 268 career games for Acadie-Bathurst Titan and Val d'Or Foreurs.

Both players are expected to be in the lineup as Albany hosts the Norfolk Admirals at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 11th, the beginning of a four-game home stand at the Times Union Center.
