Sacramento River Cats News Release
West Sacramento â Matt Watson's bases loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning plated Shawn Garrett and broke a 1-1 tie, giving the Sacramento River Cats a 2-1 victory over Tucson on Thursday night at Raley Field. The Cats loaded the bases in the ninth when Garrett and Steve Jackson singled and Jermaine Clark was hit by a pitch. Sacramento led 1-0 entering the ninth before Tucson's Dan DeVore smacked his 5th home run of the season over the right field wall off reliever Chris Mabeus to tie the game. Mabeus, however, did not allow another run and picked up his team-leading 3rd win of the season. In addition to the game-winning free pass, Watson added a solo home run and double, going 2-4 with 2 RBI on the night. The River Cats and Sidewinders square off again on Friday, when the Cats' RHP Britt Reames (1-1, 1.93) faces Tucson's RHP Edgar Gonzalez (1-0, 3.42).
