RedHawks streak snapped by the Express

April 29, 2005 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Oklahoma City Comets News Release

Oklahoma saw its three-game winning streak halted Thursday in Round Rock, Texas, as Todd Self broke a 3-3 tie with a two-run homer in the seventh to lead the Express to a 6-3 win in the series opener. Both teams take 11-10 records into Friday's game at the Dell Diamond.

Round Rock out-hit Oklahoma 15-7, snapping a string of 10 straight in which the RedHawks had double-digit hits. The RedHawks took a 2-1 lead in the fourth on Marshall McDougall's two-run homer off starter Ezequiel Astacio.

Manny Alexander gave the RedHawks another lead at 3-2 with a sacrifice fly in the fifth.

Self's two-run shot came off rehabbing right-hander Joaquin Benoit (0-1), who pitched two innings in the relief and took the loss. Veteran Dave Burba (3-2) earned the win, but had to leave before the eighth inning with what appeared to be a leg injury sustained the previous inning.

Mike Burns, who has not allowed a run in 12.1 innings this season, earned his sixth save.

Right-hander John Hudgins will oppose southpaw Wandy Rodriguez in Friday's game. The broadcast can be heard on Super Talk 930 WKY and sportsjuice.com starting at 6:45 p.m. CDT.
