Albuquerque Isotopes News Release

The Albuquerque Isotopes will host the 2007 Triple-A All-Star Game and surrounding events, the team announced today at a special news conference at Isotopes Park. The three-to-five day happening, entitled the "Sandia Resort Triple-A All-Star Fiesta" will take place July 7-11, 2007 and feature elements that showcase the city of Albuquerque as well as the entire state of New Mexico.

The Triple-A All-Star Game, which will be celebrating its 20th year in 2007 and played on July 11 of that year, features the top players from Minor League Baseball's top two circuits, the Pacific Coast and International Leagues, in a head-to-head contest that is broadcast to a national television audience on ESPN2. In addition to the game itself, Albuquerque's Triple-A All-Star Fiesta will feature a home run derby and skills competition, autograph sessions, All-Star Gala, and myriad other activities stretching throughout the five days.

"We're delighted to bring the Sandia Resort Triple-A All-Star Fiesta to the great baseball fans in Albuquerque and throughout New Mexico," said Isotopes President Ken Young. "The Triple-A All-Star Game has become such a dynamic event both in terms of the quality of players that will be featured and the economic impact on the region in which it's played. We're excited to put a distinctive New Mexico stamp on what is sure to be the best Triple-A All-Star Game ever."

The 2007 contest will mark the second time the Triple-A All-Star Game has been played in the Duke City. In 1993, future Major League star Ryan Klesko hit two home runs at Albuquerque Sports Stadium to lead the National League-affiliated All-Stars over the American League 14-3. In 2007, Albuquerque will become the only city to ever host the event twice.

Additional details about the Sandia Resort Triple-A All-Star Fiesta will be made available in the months to come.
