DES MOINES, Iowa - Jemile Weeks, Daric Barton, and Michael Taylor combined for seven hits to lead the River Cats to a 6-4 win over the Iowa Cubs in their second game of the series at Principal Park on Tuesday night.
Sacramento got on the board quickly with a two-out single by David Freitas in the top of the first, but the Cubs plated two runners on a River Cats error to take the lead. Iowa extended their lead to two before a Barton single and Anthony Allioti double gave the Cats a 4-3 lead.
The Cubs answered with a run in the seventh to tie the game, and a single from Taylor in the top of the eighth gave the River Cats a 6-4 lead to seal the win.
Milone struck out eight batters with three unearned runs off eight hits in his five innings pitched. Kyler Newby and Evan Scribner combined for one earned run and four strikeouts and closer Brian Gordon sealed the River Cats win as he recorded the save. Scribner earned the win.
The River Cats collected 12 hits, and Weeks finished 2-for-5 with a double, while Barton went 3-for-5, with a double and an RBI, and Taylor cleaned up, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
